I am a corner of my mind...
memories
Today's entry is inspired by an e-mail I got from my friend Francia...
"...it was in interfaith after a noon mass, and you were giving someone your email address. lil-underscore-jay-7-8...anyhow, i was there too, so i asked the significance of the 7-8, like if it was the year you were born. you seemed to get surprised or offended, and defensively said, "yeah! so, what? what year were you born, like '81?" and when i said yes, you were even more surprised because you didn't expect me to say yes. and in that moment, you were unofficially dubbed old. lol. just kidding. (about the unofficial part). :) ...
happy birthday in advance, jay! have fun this month! and think happy thoughts!"
It's so nice to hear about old times, pun NOT intended. It's funny because our memories are not only things we remember, but things our friends help us to remember. So it's more like a collective than an individual thing. Friends help you remember things you have forgotten, or have just slipped by. My friends are awesome, and I always cringe at the thought of how I cannot realistically totally keep in touch as much as I'd like to w/ every single one. Not that there are SO many, but simply for the fact that there is just not enough time in the day, what with all the things a grownup(blech) must do nowadays. It's not like college anymore, where I used to just skip classes and hang out w/ people. Where I didn't really have to wake up so early the next morning, where the days just seemed endless and I could do so much. Now, it's work, and errands, and bills, and all that. All the while, trying to occasionally get together w/ old friends and keep it all in a balance. Not to mention that all of THEM have a life of their own as well, dealing with all of the same things, if not more, than I am. I struggle with it, but I do try. Some people understand, and sometimes, others do not. Well, you can't please everybody, so it's feudal to even try to. But here's to true friendship, may it never grow old and tired, may many good times be shared, may there be lots of laughs and even tears, and may the love continue to bear fruit...
...pretty sappy there huh? Boy, I MUST be gettin old...
Weekend o'fun
Well tonight I'm crashin over at Jovan's place because tomorrow, we leave for MAMMOTH baby! WOOHOO. 4 days of fun in the s.....now, he he he(I think people hate my corny jokes like these...but oh well, UP YERS!, ha ha ha) I'm so excited, I haven't seen snow in a while and I get to see Cic try out her new gear on the slopes. That's right, she'll be a bonafide snow bunny this weekend! Unlike me, I'll be totally covered up. I think when I have all my gear on: boots, pants, thermals, jacket, headliner(i.e. facemask), helmet, gloves, and goggles, not one inch of me will be uncovered. People won't even know who I am! ha ha ha, cool. Wait, not cool, cuz I'll be lookin for a few people I know on the slopes, they'll be wondering, "Who the hell IS that guy calling me?" Can you tell I'm excited? You should see how wide my eyes and my smile are right now as I'm writing this. I only know because I can see my reflection on the inactive monitor sitting in front of me in this conference room. Woohoo! Good times to come. Man, I just realized that this'll be my first snowboarding trip since the unfortunate incident last january when I crushed my bursa sac in my shoulder, which to this day still causes me a bit of discomfort every now and then. Krikey, i've been praying that no more injury may befall me whilst I am up there. But just in case, I am prepared. Got my helmet, and ice packs, and everything...he he he. Complete w/ Advil :). So I hope everyone has a good weekend this weekend, whatever you're all doin...
Happy Trails...
